Welcome to CAFÉ
Renewable Energies to fight climate change and to save the resources of our planet have been on the agenda since the first UN-World-Summit in Rio de Janeiro 1992, yet without a concerted North American effort to promote energy efficiency and alternative fuel use, the commitment by the rest of the world to considerably increase the utilization of renewable / alternative energy sources in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, poverty and the dependence on fossil fuels, has progressed slowly. Consumer Alternative Fuels & Energy Efficiency Expo (CAFÉ) is intended to bolster an alternative fuel industry that already employs 500,000 people worldwide and to educate the consumer about their options in the marketplace.
Vast opportunities exist to increase the participation of Renewable Energies in the global energy market. This will not only offset the impact of global climate change caused by greenhouse gas emissions but also provide critically needed energy supplies to developing regions while boosting economic development in the US. Over previous years many obstacles to the renewable industry have been identified and should be overcome: Lack of knowledge and vision in public and political circles, inadequate legislation, inefficient lobbying and insufficient market assessments are some of them.
The project formally launched on 2006, Earth Day, CAFÉ '07 is the first expo designed specifically for the consumer in order to give the American public information on recycling, renewable energy, world climate & energy events, energy efficiency, and energy strategies that can be used now and in the future. The Expo is being held in Chicago, one of the more energy efficient and environmentally friendly cities in the US. CAFÉ brings together leading experts from science, industry, and politics to increase consumer awareness of the technologies, practices, and policies that shape the future of energy use in the Americas.
